New to church? You're welcome here.

Whether you've been going to church your whole life, haven't attended in years, or have never set foot inside a church before, we'd love to welcome you to Calvary Cork.

We know that visiting a church for the first time can feel a little intimidating, especially if you're not sure what to expect.

Here's some information to help you feel comfortable before you arrive.

When and Where Do You Meet?

We meet every Sunday at 11:00 am.

Calvary Cork
25 South Side Industrial Estate
Pouladuff Road
Cork, T12 R792

Our church meets in a converted industrial unit on the south side of Cork City. It might not look like a traditional church building from the outside, but inside you'll find a group of ordinary people gathering to worship God, learn from the Bible, and encourage one another.

You don't need to book a place or let us know you're coming. Just turn up!

Coming with Children?

Children are very welcome at Calvary Cork!

We love having families as part of our church, and we want children to feel welcome, safe, and cared for.

Children's Ministry

We have a children's ministry where children can learn about God and the Bible in ways that are appropriate for their age.

Our children's ministry team uses Bible stories, teaching, activities, and conversation to help children understand who Jesus is, what the Bible teaches, and what it means to follow Him.

Your children's safety and wellbeing are very important to us. All our children's ministry volunteers are Garda vetted and receive training in child safeguarding and care.

Crèche

For babies and younger children, we also have a crèche available.

We want parents to feel comfortable bringing their little ones, knowing that there is a welcoming, safe, and caring environment for them.

Children are also welcome to stay with their parents during the main gathering. We understand that every family is different, and there's no pressure to do things a particular way.

What Happens on a Sunday Morning?

Our Sunday gatherings are fairly simple. We sing, we pray, we read the Bible, and we listen to someone explain what it says and why it matters.

Here's a little more about each of those things.

We Sing Together

Music is one way Christians express their love for God and remind one another of what we believe.

At Calvary Cork, we sing a mixture of traditional hymns and modern Christian songs, usually led by a group of musicians.

The words are displayed on a screen so everyone can follow along.

You don't have to sing if you don't want to. If you're visiting and would prefer to listen, that's absolutely fine.

We Pray

Prayer is simply talking to God.

At different points in our gathering, someone will lead us in prayer. We thank God for His goodness, ask for His help, and pray for the needs of people in our church, our city, and around the world.

You won't be asked to pray out loud or do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

We Read and Explain the Bible

The Bible is central to everything we do at Calvary Cork.

Each Sunday, one of our pastors or teachers takes a passage from the Bible and explains what it means, what it teaches us about God, and how it connects to everyday life.

We usually work through entire books of the Bible, a section at a time.

We believe that the Bible helps us understand who Jesus is, why He came, and how knowing Him changes our lives.

You don't need to know anything about the Bible to come along. We try to explain things clearly, whether you've been reading the Bible for decades or are hearing these things for the first time.

We Share Communion

We also share bread and a cup together in what Christians call Communion or the Lord's Supper.

This is something Jesus asked His followers to do to remember His death for us. The bread reminds us of His body, given for us, and the cup reminds us of His blood, shed for the forgiveness of sins.

It's a simple but meaningful way for Christians to remember what Jesus has done and express their shared faith in Him.

If you're not a Christian, you're welcome to observe without participating.

We Spend Time Together

Church isn't just about attending a religious service. It's about people.

Before and after our Sunday gathering, there's time to drink tea and coffee, chat, meet others, and get to know one another.

You're very welcome to stay around for a cuppa and a conversation. Equally, if you'd prefer to slip away quietly afterwards, that's fine too.

What Should I Wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in! There's no dress code at Calvary Cork.

You'll see people wearing jeans, trainers, dresses, shirts, and everything in between.

You don't need to dress up to come to church.

Do I Have to Be a Christian to Attend?

Not at all.

You don't have to believe what we believe to come along.

Perhaps you're curious about Jesus. Maybe you have questions about Christianity, or you've had difficult experiences with religion in the past.

Perhaps a friend invited you and you're simply coming to see what it's all about.

Whatever your reason, you're welcome.

We believe that Christianity is good news worth exploring, and we want Calvary Cork to be a place where people can ask honest questions and think seriously about faith.

Will I Be Asked to Give Money?

No.

As part of our worship, members and regular attenders have opportunities to give financially towards the work of the church.

But if you're visiting, please don't feel any obligation to give.

We're simply glad you're here.

What If I Have Questions?

We'd love to hear them.

Whether you have questions about the Bible, Christianity, the church, or something you heard during the Sunday gathering, you're welcome to speak with one of our pastors or other church members.

You don't need to pretend to understand everything or agree with everything. We'd love to talk!
